Mantras

Helping kids to believe in themselves brings them closer to their goals. Here are a few mantras that foster a positive mindset in children and adults.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Mantras

for a positive mindset

You are stronger

than you know
Once in a while, we are faced with a pretty difficult task that can seem daunting. Perhaps we don't think we have the skills or strength to take it on. Just say to yourself...you are stronger than you know. Repeat it, whisper it and say it loud to yourself when you are working hard on a task.

How will you learn to get up

if you don't fall down
One of my wise teachers once said, "The only failure I see is not trying at all." Sometimes the fear of failure can paralyze us into not trying at all. If we take the risk, chances are we will eventually learn. Right?

Believe

Believing can be pretty difficult at times. How do we do it? Just imagine it like a movie. Close your eyes and watch the movie of yourself doing what you really want to do. Imagine yourself succeeding and what it might feel like to fulfill your dream or your goal. This is how we train our brain to believe.

Stay on the Path

Take small steps
Oftentimes those who demonstrate success have stayed on their path. Sometimes they stray from the path and do other things. But if they stay focused and keep their eyes on the goal, they will eventually get there.

If they stray, they may get there too. It just takes longer or not.

Never give up

hope
Perseverance and resiliency are fancy words that mean...don't give up. Keep trying. Try what ever you are doing in different ways. One will work.

The feeling of accomplishing your goal when you don't give up fuels you to take on new goals in life.

There are no mistakes

Only discoveries
Artists, very accomplished artists, can sometimes be afraid of making a mistake or trying something different that may not sell as well. Even kids can be very meticulous because they want it just right. If they make a mistake, I just say..."there are no mistakes, only discoveries." Then they take on the brush with freedom and abandonment and create a new work. I love it!

Imagine

the possibilities
Possibilities are what we creative people thrive on. Possibilities are about the imagination, innovation, belief, trust, risk and everything that makes life so amazing.

I'm OK

just the way I am
Just because we accept ourselves doesn't mean we give up or stop dreaming. Self-acceptance is just the first step to letting go and dreaming. "I am OK" goes a long way to feeling good about who we are and where we are going.

Be Kind

to yourself
Being kind to yourself begins with the idea: "I am worthy."

When we feel we are worthy, we begin to remind others of how we'd like to be treated. What is OK. What is not OK. We begin to live with respect, dignity and loving kindness.
