Once a young boy named Jack took the only favored cow he owned to sell for food at the marketplace.

But he traded the cow to a peddler for some beans. "Super, enchanted beans," the peddler told Jack.

Jack's mother couldn't understand why he had been so kooky.

"Enchanted beans! Ha!," she laughed, and threw them out the door.

But badaboom! A huge beanstalk had grown the next day, taller than the cottage and up through the clouds.

Jack thought,"Where does that beanstalk go, at such a speed?" Of course he wanted to know.

So up he went. Up, and up and up the beanstalk had grown. When he had reached the top, what had he found?...

A great huge castle was nestled among the clouds. He followed the bendy path towards the castle, and entered.

All the stuff was huge! The table, the seats, even the spoons! The castle was the home of an enormous man.

"Fee-Fee-Fo-Fum!" The man thundered. "The scent of someone's on my tongue!"

Scared, Jack moved to the oven and tucked away there. "Hen," the man said to the pet hen he owned,"lay me an egg." Jack then saw the strangest object ever.

The egg was pure gold!

"Who needs a cow, when you have a hen that lays eggs of gold?," thought Jack. When the man couldn't see what he was about to do, Jack dashed over, grabbed the hen, and ran.

He started to run towards the beanstalk and scrambled down. The man was close to Jack!

When he reached the bottom, he snatched up an axe and chopped down the beanstalk.

That mean old man was under the roof of that castle up through the clouds!

The family wasn't poor anymore! They stayed joyfully under the roof of the cottage, and never saw another enormous man when the future came.
