  • Polysyndeton is a figure of speech in which severed conjunctions are used to Jon connected clauses in place where they are not necessary

EXAMPLE OF POLYSYNDETON

  • "And Joshua, and all of Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and silver, and the garment, and wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had."

ALLITERATION

  • The occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.

SYNECDOCHE

  • A figure of speech in which a part is made to represent the whole or vise versa.
  • The phase " gray bread" refers to an old man.
