Mission
Animal Care Services' mission is to encourage responsible pet ownership by promoting and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and pets of San Antonio through education, enforcement, and community partnership.

At Animal Care Services, I would walk the dogs around the area and take care of the puppies. With the puppies I would give them baths or change out their kennels.

Impact I made
At the Animal Care Services, there are not a lot of staff to help out. When I first became a part of there community, all the staff were thanking me for my time. Having volunteers around makes their jobs easier because instead of answering questions or cleaning the kennels, the staff get to bring more dogs in or help around the main office.

Impact made on me
At the Animal Care Services, I learned that we should treat everyone and everything with love. The dogs and cats at the pet pound get very sad and scared of anyone that passes by. This should tell you that all the dogs and cats with through something very tragic. Like us, we go through difficult times and we can name ourselves feel better. With animals though, they rely on us to better their lives. Dogs and cats are very innocent and all they have to offer is love. I learned that I need to show animals and give them the respect they deserve.

Would I do this service again?
Yes, of course I would do my service at Animal Care Services because I enjoy being one the few volunteers that helps out. I say enjoying being one of the few volunteers because I get to feel more involved with the community. For instance, now I get to help out in the vet office. With working with vets, I can understand how to give surgeries to dogs. This is important to me because for my career I want to be a veterinarian. At the human society, you wouldn’t get the opportunity that I get. The Human Society has plenty of volunteers and several veterinarians to take over the vet office.

• Committing fully to my job and working as hard as I can to accomplish it. Focusing on my job as a volunteer giving it special care will help to eliminate my mistakes and accidents, and it will also show my community that I’m serving, and my team, that I truly care.

• Academic Excellence: I'm using my knowledge that I already know about animals and showing other people my tips, tricks, and ideas

Connection With Service

• With volunteering at the Animals Service and I’m not only serving for myself but I’m serving God. With my service, I’m showing everyone that I want to serve them too.

• With my strong faith and going to a Catholic School I’m showing everyone that I’m doing everything to the glory of God.

Connection with Compassion

• I’m showing compassion to the dogs for sure but also my team.

Connection With Stewardship

• At Animal Services, I’m taking care of my team and the dogs. Taking care of my team and dogs shows that I want to come together as one big community to share the love for dogs.
