quote 1,chapter2,page 19

"Fire! I can see a fire! I can see a fire"
The lady was having a vision of the camp before they got there. she saw flames and when they did get there they did to. the flame of the bodies being burned of innocent jews. the lady in the end wasn't mad at all.

quote 1,chapter 3,page 24

"Yitgadal veyitkadach shme raba...May his name be blessed and magnified"
the father was saying the prayer of death because he had firmly believed that he was about to die. The boy on the other hand was very confused as to why he would say this himself, since the lord of the universe had done for him at his time of need.

quote 2,chapter 3,page 28

"You're in a concentration camp. At Auschwitz . . . ."
Being finally told where you were, instead of just telling yourself must be a crippling feeling. its a frightening quote, you don't know exactly what to think about besides death. That's what comes to my mind when I hear the words concentration camp. So much death and cruelty in such few words.

quote 3,chapter 3,page 30

"Work is liberty"
Was this a joke, purposely put there for a false hope to arise. Liberty in a place like Auschwitz has never even been a slight thought to anyone or at least it shouldn't of been. Liberty means freedom right? where in Auschwitz was there freedom, where were they given a chance to have freedom. Work is liberty.. what were they meaning by that. I see it as them saying if you worked and did your part that you would be freed. That's not what that meant at all.

" Give me your crown, kid "

quote 2,chapter 4,page 40

"If you don't give me your crown, you'll pay for it even more"
The boy clearly told him that he couldn't eat without it and the guy still insist that he give it to him. they want to take everything they can from them until they are nothing. He has given the boy chances to give him the crown yet he hasn't. he will pay for his actions, the punishment was not directly to him but he still payed I think by having to allow his father to be punished instead of him. As he would beat his father his mindset was that he was not to care anymore.

quote 3, Chapter 4,page 47

"Where is God, Where is He?"
Do you really think that God would allow this to happen and that it won't be later solved? Where is God? God is watching them make fools of their self and they will be judged for their crimes. By killing another person you are killing God, we are all made as a part of him. As it says he is right in front of you in all 3 human beings that were killed. I believe they actually thought that God was punishing them for being who they were, when in fact God made us all different he made all of the races what would make someone think that he was trying to get rid of his children that he created because of who they were.

quote 1, chapter 5, page 50

"All creation bears witness to the greatness of God."
God created us to witness and prosper in his word and in his environment he has created for us. When you are born you have bared witness to Gods power to give you life.

quote 2, chapter 5, page 56

" It's the end. God is no longer with us."
These are the words of a man who has lost all his faith. He has come to the point that he really thinks that God is no longer there and that he isn't physically keeping them protected. but if you think about it he is by keeping them alive still. Giving them the strength to continue on .

quote 1, chapter 6, page 63

" Don't think. Don't stop. Run."
You can't be thinking while this is happening, you really must keep running.. do not stop

quote 1, chapter 7, page 72

" He isn't dead! Not yet!"
He really was showing that he relies on his father being alive. He was hitting him hard because he wasn't waking up and they were trying to throw him overboard from the cart.

quote 1, chapter 8, page 77

"They never wake again! Never! Don't you understand?"
His father really doesn't want to live anymore. He really truly wants to give up and to die. His son is really trying to figure out if he can honestly let his father go now.. and he doesn't want to, he sees him so weak and frail; he needs to rest. His father wants to rest in the snow knowing that he will not be waking up most likely. Elie is yelling at him as if he had gone mad.. was wanting to die really the worst thing to think about at this point though?

quote 1, chapter 9, page 83

" From the depths of the mirror, a corpse gazed back at me"
