stage 1-the eggs

It all starts when a female butterfly lays her eggs, usually on a leaf or a stem of a plant the caterpillar can eat. Inside these little eggs are caterpillars which grow. The time it takes to hatch can vary from a few weeks to until the weather is warm.

Stage 2-The caterpillar
Once ready the caterpillar will leave it's egg home and enters the big outside world and these little critters have one big appetite! During this stage the little caterpillars shed their skin 5-7 times as the caterpillar grows.

Stage 3-The pupa

Once fully grown, the caterpillar will form a chrysalis or pupa which
will act like a bed for the little caterpillar to rest. They usually do this on twigs or safe places after eating to change into a beautiful butterfly! This process usually takes 5-7 weeks.

Stage 4 -The butterfly

During this stage the pupa opens then a butterfly comes out. When a butterfly first comes out it's wings moist. The wings are also soft. The wings are also enclosed against its body. The butterfly is tired and needs rest. After that the butterfly is gonna pump blood into its wings. Now it is ready to fly.
