PRESENTATION OUTLINE

HEAR GOD'S VOICE

Different beliefs in hearing God's voice:
1. God can guide us and give direction when we need it.
2. God speaks what we read in the bible.
3. God said through the writings of Moses in OT.
4. God still speaks today by His Holy Spirit.

I. The Need to hear
Jesus said "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that PROCEEDETH out of the mouth of GOD-MATTHEW 4:4

- To know GOD's will
Jesus said "That servant who knew his Lord's will ...neither did according to his will shall be beaten with many stripes.
( we must hear his voice)

II. Hindrances to hearing :
1. Hearts not perfect before God
" For the eyes of the Lord search back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect toward him, so that he can show his great power in helping them " 2 Chronicle 16:9

a. Worldy Affections -1 john 2:15
b. Impure Motives- like prophet Balaam in Numbers 23
c. Wrong intentions-like Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5) pretending to give all their money to the work of the Lord but keep back much of it.
" For man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart" ( 1 Samuel 16:7)

2. Hardness of heart
"Today if you want to hear his voice, do not harden your hearts"( Hebrews 4:7).

a. Unforgiveness stops God's voice
b. Forgiveness brings a return of God's voice.

A hard heart, a calloused heart, an unbelieving heart and scores of other heart conditions can prevent us from hearing God's voice.

3. An unregenerate condition
- that we are truly born again believer.
a. Saving faith or Intellectual Agreement.
" The demons also believe and tremble" ( James 2:19)
b.You can know you are saved- Romans 10:9-10; John 10:27; Ezekiel 36:25-27

4. Disobedience stops God's voice
" So then faith comes by hearing the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
- Faith is obedient action to what God says.

a. Pride prevents obedience
a. Preconceptions hinder obedience
" Go wash in the jordan river seven times and you will be healed of every trace of your leprosy" 2 Kings 5:10
