LOCATION

POSITION ON THE EARTH'S SURFACE

ABSOLUTE LOCATION

  • Is the exact place where something is, uses specific coordinates.
  • For example: Mille Lacs Lake is located at 46.2381' N and 93.6434' W.

RELATIVE LOCATION

  • Relative location is a point or place in relation to another point or place.
  • For example: Wayzata West is 10 minutes southwest of my house.

HUMAN ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION

DEPEND

  • As humans we depend on the environment and its natural resources, such as crops.
  • The resources we have help us survive and are apart of the economy.

MODIFY

  • Changing the environment to our needs.
  • We modify our environment by building houses, school and businessess.

ADAPT

  • As humans we all have to adapt to the environment in order to be successful.
  • Kansas is one of the states that would be the easiest to adapt to because it is about 70 degrees all year round.
  • Antarctica or Alaska would be very hard because of the brutal winter weather.
  • For example: a Polar Bear is very well suited for cold weather with its thick coat of fur.

PEOPLE

  • Humans moving around the Earth, regions or areas.
  • We all move everyday, we move during transport to and from locations.
  • Even when we walk to our next class.

IDEAS

  • Borrowing ideas from other people and countries.
  • For example: the T.V. show The Voice started in the U.S.
  • Now it's in many different countries around the world.
  • Sharing ideas can help us create cures with the help of doctors in the world.

GOODS

  • Trade, manufacturing products.
  • Technology has an impact on the transport of goods.
  • For example: in the 1900's it would take a month to get mail from other states.
  • Now it takes two business days to ship it from California to Maine.
