PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL STRUCTURES

EUKARYOTIC CELL

a cell with membrane bound structures inside the cell ( includes plants, animals, and fungus

PROKARYOTIC CELL

A cell with no membrane bound structures inside the cell including bacteria

CELL WALL

Tough, rigid outer layer that protects the cell and gives it shape. found in plants, algae, fungi, and most bacteria.

CELL MEMBRANE

the protective layer around all cells controls what comes in and out of the cell.

CYTOPLASM

thick liquid inside the cell, often compared to jelly or gelatin.

ORGANELLES

structures within the cells that carry out a job most are membrane bound.

NUCLEUS

direct all cell activities. Contains the DNA.

PARAMECIUM

a single celled organism

LYSOSOMES

organelle that contains digestive chemicals

VACUOLES

organelle that is storage for food, water, wastes. One large one in plants cells and animal cells have small ones

RIBOSOME

Found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, where proteins are made.

CHLOROPLASTS

organelle that contains chlorophyll and is the site of photosynthesis found in plants.

MITOCHONDRIA

Organelle that releases energy from glucose

ORGAN SYSTEM

a group of organs that work together to perform a function

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM (ER)

chemicals are made and processed smooth er makes lipids, rough er makes proteins.

ORGAN

two or more types of tissues that work together

TISSUE

similar cells grouped together to do one job

GOLGI BODIES

organelle were sorting and packaging into vesicles takes place
