PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Alveolar Ridge

CADMIEL ANTONIO SOLÍS , ARYAM DEL ÁNGEL, ANDREEA GARCÍA, MARIANNA DRAKE

As an outstanding introduction, we would like to say that we are really impressed about how complex organs of speech could be. So many times, we do not get noticed about all these things. They are unknown to us, and that is the main reason we are making this research. As a good opening, we are going to start giving the meaning of Alveolar Ridge.

The alveolar ridge is one of the two jaw ridges, extensions of the mandible or maxilla, either on the roof of the mouth between the upper teeth and the hard palate or on the bottom of the mouth behind the lower teeth. Most of the roof of one's mouth is the hard palate and the soft palate

FUNCTION

It's considered an important structure in speech because the tongue tip continually touches the ridge to form consonant sounds.

Some examples of consonant sounds are the letters as we know them, except vocals. We are going to show some examples in a comparative table below.
