Shawn Corey Carter grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He was raised in the drug infested 'Marcy Projects'. hE WAS RAISED BY HIS MOM WHEN HIS DAD LEFT THE FAMILY. Shawn WAS 11 YEARS OLD WHEN HE LEFT. he shot his brother in a dangerous altercation a later on. On The streets He was know as jazzy.
Shawn studied at three different schools. He studied at George Westinghouse career and Technical Education high school, Eli Whitney High school and Trenton Central High School.He also studied with fellow artist Busta Rhymes an the nutorius b.i.g.
Shawn showed advanced academic credits but dropped out of school to become a crack cocaine dealer. as he said 'Broad-daylight shoot outs had our grandmothers afraid to leave the house, and had our neighbors who had know us since we were toddlers forming neighborhood watches against us.'
beside his drug dealing he would Write lyrics that reflected his own life soon becoming a local lyrical genius. he read the dictionary cover to cover multiple times to come up with new rhymes.

After his life was put at risk with being shot at he decided to get out of the drug scene and launched his music career. he released his first song 'The originators' with an old rapper. Later changing his stage name to JAy-z.
jay Z has came along way. From the streets of Brooklyn to a mansion in Bridgehampton. Besides jay being a multi-millionaire he is also a clothing designer, NBA owner. record producer and real estate mogul.
BUT TO TOP HIS SUCCESS HE HAS WON 21 grammys and countless other awards. Jay Z has learned that despite were you come from and your past choices you can achieve your dreams.
Jay had a rather dangerous and risky career in the past. Jay moved on from his drug dealing path to make a better life for him and for everyone he cares about. He has shown success to the world despite growing up in the streets.
Jay z was inspired throughout his career by the nutorius B.I.G. Jay looked up to him because they both overcame similar challenges. Jay looked up to him as someone he hoped to be.
