PRESENTATION OUTLINE

MOVIE CLIP VS. SYMBOL

MEGAN BROWNRIGg

1. The main difference between the two symbols is when you "scrub" through the timeline, you can see the animation on a graphic, whereas you cannot on a movie clip. Also, the movie clip will always loop even if there's only one frame in the timeline, however the graphic needs frames in order to loop

2. Properties associated with a graphic:
you can loop it, you can make it hold on a single frame, you can make it play once, change what frame the listed start on (i.e. it will play once put start on frame 5 or it will loop but start on frame 5)

Properties associated with a movie clip:
you can attach action script codes, will always loop no matter what

3. The graphic offers things such as the ability to control how many times it loops, the ability to play once, the ability to hold on a single frame, and it gives you the control of where it will start looping/playing, etc.

7. The movie clip will play when you press Command + Enter. The graphic does not animate as it needs frames to do so.

8. You need to add additional frames (the same amount of frames as the movie clip's animation) in order for the graphic to animate.
