• Third Plague: Seb
• Fifth plague: ptah, hathor, mnevis, amon
• Seventh plague: nut, isis, seth, shu

ROLE OF DEITIES

• seb- god of earth
• Ptah, hathor, mnevis, amon- gods of bulls/cows
• Nut- godess of sky
• Isis, seth- gods of agriculture
• Shu- god of atmosphere

YHWH VS DEITIES

• Plague 3
• God defeats seb when the gnats take over the air and make it difficult to breathe
• Egyptians thought that seb died because he did not protect them against the gnats

YHWH VS DEIETES (CONT)

• Plague 5
• God defeated the gods of cows when most of the livestock died from a disease
• The egyptians would have no food but the deities did not help them so the egyptians thought the gods died

• Plague 7
• God sent hail of brimstone to destroy homes, crops food etc.
• The egyptian gods did not save the objects destroyed which made the egyptians believe the deities had died
