  • Morocco, a North African country bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.
  • Some major cities in Morocco include Tangier and Nador.
  • The capital of Morocco is Rabat.
  • There are 35.28 million people living in Morocco.

LEADER

  • The leader of Morocco is Mohammed VI.
  • After 2011, after a new constitution was adopted at the behalf of both people and king, Morocco was officially transformed into a constitutional monarchy with a democratic parliament .

COUNTRY LANGUAGE/INDEPENDENCE

  • The official languages of Morocco are Berber and Arabic.
  • From 1912 to 1956, Morocco was divided into French and Spanish zones.
  • There are very large concentrations of Moroccan migrants living in France (over 1 million) and Spain (over 700 thousand).
  • Morocco gained independence March 2, 1956, and separated from France.

IMPORTS AND EXPORTS

  • The main exports are clothing and textiles, electric components, inorganic chemicals, transistors, crude minerals, fertilizers (including phosphates), petroleum products, citrus fruits, vegetables, fish, motor vehicles.
  • Morocco imports include crude petroleum, textile fabric, telecommunications equipment, wheat, gas and electricity, transistors, plastics.

ANIMALS AND MUSIC

  • Morocco’s native mammal species include foxes, jackals, genets, hyenas, panthers, gazelles and the famous Barbary ape.
