When it started

  • It is still uncertain of when ancient roman sports began.

Where They played?

  • First played in wealthy peoples' villas.
  • First public gym was opened by Emperor Nero
  • The Colossium was also very well known for hosting sporting events.

What sports?

  • The sports that the ancient romans played include:
  • Wrestling, Racing, Boxing, Hand Ball and many more

Famous People

  • Sparticus:
  • Gladiator
  • Led Slaves to Freedom
  • Competed in Vilent Sports

How they became athletes

  • Anyone could volunteer to become an athlete or gladiator.
  • Gladiators were considered to be athletes as they entertained crowds by fighting other gladiators or animals.
  • The Athletes where mostly criminals who lost their citizenship.

Impact/EFFECT

  • The romans gave us lots of inspirations for new sports for our generation today.
  • We took many of the sports they played and changes them into our own games
