PRESENTATION OUTLINE

NAZI'S USE OF DOGS

BY JUDY HAIL

Friend or foe? Canines have always been referred to as man’s best friend, but is this always true?

A dog can serve as a great friend and companion, a protector providing confidence and security, a capable assistant for a person with disabilities, or…….a frightening species to evoke fear in the intended target.

THESIS

  • During the years of 1933 to 1945, dogs became tools of war, used by the Nazi forces to aid in their fanatical plan, the Final Solution.

When World War I ended, one of the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles was limiting the German Army to 100,00 men. Germany appeared to follow this guideline; however, the National Socialists, who later became the Nazi Party, wanted to eliminate the treaty and re-arm the military.
