1920'S - 1930'S FASION

1920'S BACKGROUND INFO

  • Women's clothing changed when they gained freedom for women. 1920's became more masculine and free spirited attitude, women's hair kept getting shorter and shorter, and the first retractable lip stick was invited.

1930'S BACKGROUND INFO

  • 1930's was the year of the Great Depression because of the loss of unemployment. People cared less about fashion, the styles went to more of a conservative look.

SIMILARITIES

  • Long hair was completely out of the fashion, Short hair was very common in the 1920's and 30's
  • In the 1920's bathing suits became more revealing and stayed the same in the 30's as well.
  • Suits for the men were identical to the 1920's look, but had a slightly looser structure in the 1930's.

DIFFERENCES

  • In the 20's their straight legged and wide pants were cuffed and creased front and back, where in the 30's pants were tampered slightly at the ankle and worn with cuffs.
  • In the 20's they spent mor money on glamorous clothes, but then oct. 29 1929 the Great Depression began and had a strong influence on fashion because the need to save money.
  • In the 20's mens accessories were Barely worn, but in the 30's ties, collars, stuff like that expressed who you were.

  • In 1921 the famous and iconic " Chanel no.5" perfume was created by Coco Chanel.
  • In 1924 the first Macy's thanksgiving day parade was held as a way of celebrating clothing.

CONCLUSION

  • Every industry as well as entertainment, fashion and life standards was changing. Innovations in every aspects was bold and achieved a lot of success. Fashion was one of the aspects that reflected the pride and liberty in the way of thinking of women.
