Willy Lowman is a salesman who tries to live out the American dream and forces it on his sons, at the price of his relationships and his sanity.

Linda is Willy's wife. She is a supportive woman who tries to help her husband despite is increasing insanity.

Biff is Willy's favorite son. Biff does not have a stable job and this upsets Willy and he tries to force him to become a salesman when Biff doesn't want to be.

Happy is Willy's youngest son, who has been overshadowed and ignored in favor of Biff. Happy is a womanizer and likes to flirt.

The setting is at Willy's house and work during the 1940s.

Death of a Salesman is a play about an unstable and suicidal man who tries to live out the American Dream and see his sons become successful when they don't want to be businessmen.
