What is HIV and AIDS?
HIV is a virus spread through body fluids that affects specific cells of the immune system, called CD4 cells, or T cells. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body can't fight off infections and disease. When this happens, HIV infection leads to AIDS.
Transmission of HIV or Aids
- Sexual contact
- Infection and drug use
- Pregnancy, Childbirth and Breastfeeding
- Occupational Exposure
- Blood Transfusion/Organ transplant
The early effects of HIV
This would include fevers, rash, fatigue, sore throat, headache, muscle and joint pains and swollen glands
Treatment of HIV and AIDS
Antiviral therapy, art uses different medicines to keep HIV from growing and multiplying. Not a complete cure, as the virus over time may find a way around it.
