Clara Barton was a very persevering woman.She was a pioneer nurse who founded the American Red Cross.She was prominent as a nurse in the American Civil war.Barton built a career helping others.
Early Life Before Becoming Famous
Before becoming famous Clara was a very shy girl.She had different chores like making soap and milking cows.She enjoyed galloping bareback.She read poetry every night.She also learned how to sew and cook.Clara did lots of things before becoming famouse.

Clara's older brothers Stephen and David taught her many things.Stephen is very good at math so he taught her everything he knew.David is more of an athlete so he taught her to love animals and horses as much as he did.Her two sisters Dolly and Sarah taught her how to read when she was two.

Clara's first job was a teacher.She was teaching a roomful of strangers to get over her shyness.Her second job was a clerk at the U.S. Patent Office her salary was $1,400 per year.Finally she founded the American Red Cross.
