Academics
Here at Oak Grove we value academics. We have a wide range of AP classes, and duel credit courses. Oak Grove students have consistently higher test scores, and 96% of graduates of Oak Grove go on to pursue degrees in higher education.
Choir/ Band
The teachers of choir and band are Mr. Aaron Zinter, Choir, and Mrs. Renee O’Conner. Every year the concert choir, and sometimes band go on a trip to somewhere in the country. This past year they went to Boston. Oak Grove’s music department competes in multiple annual music competitions.
Oak Grove Performing Arts
Theater director, Mr. Scott Bruvsen, has made a remarkable impact on the theater department. In the 2017-2018 school year we had four shows and two of them were regional premiers.
Trips for Grovers
Every year Oak Grove has a number of trips that are offered for students. We even have mission trips, which are usually to Guatemala. For the students who want to have some fun or learn more, we have a number of other trips. If you want to strengthen your faith we take an annual trip to Worship Night in America. For the middle schoolers there’s an end of the year trip to either Minneapolis, Joy Ranch, or Valley Fair. The seniors get their own trip to Washington D.C. called close up.
High School Oriented Activities
Here at Oak Grove there is a number of activities for the high school students. The mission trips. Varsity teams for sports are usually only High School. The Worship night in America trip is also only for high school students.
Middle School Oriented Activities
Middle school students have a number of options, but they don’t have as many as the high school students. The middle school has a number of sports such as volley ball, basketball, and hockey. And the theater department has a show for just middle school students.
Elementary School Oriented Activities
There is 5th & 6th grade volley ball. There are also other sports just for the elementary kids. Every year they take a picture for giving hearts day. This past school year there was a musical just for the elementary school kids.
The Advantage of Small Classes
Small classes have less distractions, and the teachers can work with the students one on one. This helps the students to be more focused. And it also helps the students and staff build bonds which is important, because students seem to enjoy classes where someone they see as a friend is teaching them.
