EARLY LIFE

  • He was born in 1925, (Omaha, Nebraska) as Malcolm Little, from Earl and Louise Little. Both supporters of Marcus Garvey
  • He gets arrested in 1946 (21yrs) for theft and stays in prison until 1952
  • The Chalestown State Prison made him lose all his faith on God and the Bibble
  • Once he gets out, he meets Elliah Muhammed, that helps him to fight the white society. It starts changing his last name into “X”

CONVERSION TO ISLAM (1952)

  • Becomes a leader of Nation of Islam
  • Disagreement between Malcolm and Martin L. King over J.F.Kennedy assasination
  • Travel to Mecca (1962)
  • Change his mind about the racial conflict in the U.S.
  • Fixes his relationship with King

The nation of Islam
African american political and religious organization founded in Detroit, Michigan.

The main belief of The Nation of Islam and its followers is that there is only one god and Muhammad is the messenger of god Their most important worship is praying five times a day.

The official beliefs as stated by the Nation of Islam have been outlined in books, movies, documents, and articles published by the organization as well as speeches by Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X

Malcolm believed that Islam was able to break down every form of discrimination and racial barriers

THE MURDER OF MALCOLM X

  • 19/02/1965 - Malcolm X in an interview with Gordon Parks said that the Nation of Islam was trying to kill him
  • 21/02/1965 - He and his body guards were walking in Manhattan but suddenly a woman yelled for help because she was getting robbed by a black person.
  • In that chaotic situation, his guards went to help the lady.
  • A man came out the crowd with a small shotgun and shoot at Malcolm on the chest
  • He died few hours later
