The Mind of Christ
Responsive Reading

Leader: One of the best descriptions of the attitude we should embody was written by Paul in Philippians 2:5-11.
The apostle says clearly and powerfully,
“have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”
So what did Jesus do?

All: 6. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7. rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!

Leader: Keep in mind that Philippians 2 is not only a description of the obedience of Christ; it is an example for us to follow.

All: 9. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11. and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:5-11, NIV)

Leader: We are to be obedient. We are to put others first. We are to do whatever it takes to keep the unity in our corps. So if we approach corps membership from the perspective of entitlement, we have it upside down. You always ask first what you can do for your corps.
Then you will have discovered
the joy of being last.
