Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States of America and was also the first African-American president of America
He was born on the 4th of August 1961 in
Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.
Barack Obama has a wife Michelle Obama and two daughters Malia Ann Obama and Sasha Obama.
Why was Barack Obama’s election as US President so unique at the time?
Barack Obama was different from the other candidates because he was black and that was different because at that time racism was not entirely gone. I believe Obama represented the equal rights of America.
How do Meena and Kiku feel about Barack
Obama in Same Sun Here? Why do they feel
that way?
Kiku definitely feels very strong towards Barack as in the book it reads that Kiku wore his Obama shirt for too long and at the reveal of Obama's election he shouted with joy. Meena does not know much about Barack Obama or politics but I think Meena does like Barack Obama. In the book, Meena doesn't seem to show much interest in Obama
I believe they like Obama because of what he represents. Obama back then would represent the multi-culture and fairness of America.
Do you think they and would be happy about his
election?
In the book Meena, Kiku and their mum rejoiced when they heard Obama was elected Meena said that "everyone had tears in their eyes"
In this context, it would mean that they cried with joy.
"But when Obama was sworn in I DID believe it. And that's why everyone had tears in their eyes because they knew that, too."
