RAISSA

  • Raissa was Nadia’s mother
  • Her dad was a King
  • Her daughter Mina passed away as in infant
  • Raissa passed away in 1935

ERNEST

  • Ernest taught piano lessons
  • He was known for being a choral music composer
  • He was born in Paris, France
  • He passed away in 1900

A Troubled Time
When Nadia’s dad died in 1900 money became a problem so Nadia started to work hard at Conservatoire to become a teacher, in 1903 she won first place and began earning money by playing organ and piano.

Nadia Boulanger

Nadia caused a stir because she submitted an instrumental fugue rather than the vocal fugue, but she won second place grand prize anyway.

  • This religion remained important to her for the rest of her life.

Nadia Boulanger sadly passed away on October 22, 1979. She passed away in Paris, where she was buried with her sisters Lili and Mina, also with her parents Ernest and Russia.
