THE FORESTS

• 25% of Costa Rica is covered by rainforests.
• Tons of the forests are protected under the National Park System or NPS.
• The rainforests in Costa Rica are open for tours at sometimes of the year.

THE ANIMALS

• There are 1,250,000 identified species that live in the rainforest.
• The main species include birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians.
• The Costa Rican Rainforests are home to the quetzal.
• The quetzal is the sacred and endangered bird to the Mayans and Aztecs.

THE VEGETATION

• Palm Trees and Mangrove Trees are the main trees in the rainforest.
• Their are 5 different species of mangroves.
• These trees cover the shoreline along with the Duke and Nicoyota gulfs.
• It is home to 4% of the worlds plants and animals.

GEOGRAPHY

• It is the size of West Virginia.
• Costa Rica is borderd by the pacific and carribian oceans.
• The climate is very tropical and carribian influenced. Temperatures from 77F-90F exist here.
• The terrian is a mix of central highlands and carribian lowlands.

WHAT FOOD AND WHY

• The crops that grow are beans,corn,potatoes,rice, soybean ect..
• They export foods such as bananas,coffee,sugar,ect...
• These foods are grown here due to the climate.

SHELTER

• Their homes are made out of stone.
• Their homes have a spanish and carribian influence.
• This is because of the trees are under protection.
• Cutting down trees to make homes are illegal.

CLOTHING

• People wear clothes made from cotton.
• They use this material becuse they grow it.

THE LAND USAGE

• People use the land to farm on.
• They are needing to extand the land so they are cutting down trees.
• This is because their economy is relying on the crops to survive.
• This biome is getting destroyed becuse of this.

How do people adapt and modify this biome.
People are harming this biome. This is because they're cutting down trees,and killing animals. This is because Costa Rica needs more land to farm on so they are making more room.
