Western European Defiance and the European Community

A. The Foreign policy that Gaulle started in France was called Gaullism. To him the most important thing was to get afance eye from Germany and make it its own country. The ruled with a tough iron fist, not leaving room for disobedience in his people.

B. The Treaty of Rome signified the victory of the approach to build the European Union. There were some countries that did not see the need to sign it like Britain, but most European countries signed it when they saw the good it could bring for the countries and the continent as a whole.

C. The economic relationship between America and Europe became slight rocky because many European countries supported the Soviet Union. This made the United States hesitant in wanting to do trade with them, hence effecting the economy of both places.

A. Josip Broz ruled very strictly and did not let anyone argue with his way of ruling his nation. He didn't let people openly practice religion, he executed many separatists and loyalists. He didn't think twice about punishing anyone who went against his ways of ruling.

B. De-Stalinization was the removal of all of Stalin's cults, statutes,and even followers from Russia. This was on the path to get Russia away from Communism and onto a new path for government. This gave Russian people ore freedoms and choice.

C. In 1956, two communist leaders, Imre Nagy and János Kádár formed a government that announced its neutral side and withdrawn from the Warsaw Pact. The soviet leaders viewed these moves as a threat to their security system. So, shortly after they crushed the Hungarian Uprising.

A. The Chinese and the Soviet Union were mainly brought together by was the American sponsored rehabilitation of their former enemy, Japan, and as well as of their of their other client states, Taiwan and South Korea.

B. Because Nikita was pursing a policy to be peaceful with the United States and Western Europe, the Chinese government accused the soviet of being "revisionists."

C. Both countries tried to influence Asia and Africa during this time period by trying to expand their military protection into these continents.
