- Some countries have laws against immigration
- Some do not

- China- too many children being born
- Chinese government afraid of overpopulation
- Italy and Japan- population going down
- Government afraid of losing population
- Losing population means losing tax money and a good economy

IMPORTANCE
- Not every country follows the transition stages
- Not everyone believes in them
- So far, only Western Europe and North America have gotten to stage 4
- Population pyramids do not work perfectly.
- Also: diseases and wars can affect population pyramids as well.
