  • Scales is the measurement they use to measure the gold in the gold rush.
  • It have the middle stand with 2 arms over the top, balance in the center of the scales on each site of the arm.
  • There are 2 metal plate attached by chain

  • They could work more quickly and read quickly,they did not have to be carefully balanced with each measurement.

  • In 1848 James Marshall found a shiny metal in the Tail race at Sutter's Mill.
  • 1849 when word finally spread around the world and the influx of people really began.
  • A total of 2 billion worth of precious metal was extracted from the area during the Gold Rush which Peaked in 1852.

  • 49ers represent in California culture.
  • The news of gold brought mostly by selling ships and covered wagons some 300,000 gold seekers called "forty-niners" as in 1849 to California.
  • The largest group of forty niners in 1849 were Americans, arriving by the tens of thousands overland across the continent and along various salling routes
