WHO IS MY EXPLORER?
Born in 1535 in Yorkshire, Great Britain.
Died on November 22, 1594.
Tried to find the Northwest Passage.
He started exploring when he was 14 years old.

WHAT DID MY EXPLORER DO?
He tried to reach Cathay (China) by sailing in the north westerly direction.
He made 3 attempts to make it to the Northwest Passage.
He was trying to find the Northwest Passage to Asia for riches, spices and gold and black ore.
He discovered land in Canada's north and met the Inuits who gave him black ore and furs to take back to England.

In northern Canada and islands that are in present day Nunavut.
He sailed across the Atlantic Ocean.
Africa and Europe.

WHEN DID MY EXPLORER DO HIS EXPLORING?
In 1554 he went on two voyages to Africa.
In 1576 he went on his first voyage to find the Northwest Passage to find Asia, but instead hdiscovered Frobisher Bay and the Frobisher Straits.
In 1577 he made his second trip to Canada.
In 1578 he made his last trip to Canada.

He was interested in sailing and navigation.
He was trying to find the Northwest Passage to Asia.

He sailed on a ship called the "Aid".
He had 15 ships in his fleet.
He used a map, compass, and astrolabe for navigation.
Warm clothes, gloves, and furs.

HOW Did THINGS CHANGE IN THE WORLD BECAUSE OF HIS EXPLORATIONS?
There are lots of places named after him in Canada, such as Frobisher Bay and Frobisher Straits.
He is considered one of Canada's most important explorers.
He opened up new travel routes to Canada's far north for other travellers and exploreres.

REFLECTIVE COMMENT
I think that he should of had a longer life.
It is too bad he didn't find the Northwest Passage because he tried three times but failed.
He was a risk taker because he sailed for a long time and it could be dangerous and he could get sick.
