  • Vitamins are organic compounds that are essential for life.
  • They help build metabolism, tissue building, and regulating body processes

  • You only need a small amount a day of vitamins.

ANTIOXIDANTS

  • Vitamins are antioxidants and they protect the body from harmful chemicals.
  • They are found in mainly fruits and vegetables.
  • The main vitamins in tHem are vitamins A,C, and E

WATER-SOLUBLE

  • Vitamins are normally classified as water-soluble and dissolve in water
  • Some are classified as fat-soluble and only dissolve in fat and are stored in the body.

FAT SOLUBLE VITAMINS

  • Some fat soluble vitamins are vitamin a, D, E, and K
  • They help with growth and development, normal clotting of blood, and protect cell structure.

WATER-SOLUBLE VITAMINS

  • Water soluble vitamins include vitamin B1,B2, niacin, b6, b12, c, and folic acid
