HOPE

activity #3

What qualities make for good hope givers like Miss Sullivan? Does she have faith in herself and where did her confidence come from?

Her confidence came from her younger years. Miss Sullivan grew up in a mental asylum. Being partially blind, she knew the hardships Helen Keller faced.

What did her brother's death mean to her?

Jimmy's death acted as a motivational boost for her to be able to succeed in helping Helen Keller ultimately regain her "humanity."

How important was Miss Sullivan's own disability in helping provide hope for Helen Keller?

A person who faces similar challenges with someone may share a special bond with her/him.

Do you think Helen knew that Annie was also blind once and still half-blind when she first came to help her ?
