PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Sugar was once a luxury. Yet, now sugar has become a necessary product. We cook and bake with it, and buy foods and drinks loaded with it. Sugar is used in almost everything. While sugar is extremely well known and popular, artificial sweeteners have been growing in usefulness as well. Many restaurants have packets of artificial sugar on the tables such as Splenda. Although there has been many arguments about artificial sweeteners, they do have some possible benefits. Artificial sweeteners are used by people with diabetes. They are a possible option for people with diabetes because the sweeteners do not have carbohydrates, so, they do not raise the blood sugar levels. Sweeteners also help with avoiding cavities because it is not actually sugar, thus helping with dental issues.
Natural definition- existing in nature not man made
Synthetic definition- made by chemicals to imitate a natural product

Natural products aren’t made chemically. They are stuff like apples, bananas, or vitamin C in oranges. Although synthetic materials sometimes get a bad rap, they are cheaper and easier to make. For example, you can get vitamin C from eating a tone of oranges, or you could take a vitamin C vitamin that has the same nutrients just for a cheaper cost. It will have the same type of nutrient just in a smaller easier way.
Artificial Sweetener is made up of a very complex chemical process using chlorine and phosgene gas. It is made in a Lab over time using sucralose, stevia, and aspartame. Sucralose has shown no effects in animals, even when given high amounts. Saccharin was reused as a safe additive in 1997, when scientists found that rats used in earlier studies had a reaction leading to cancer that was unrelated to the sweetener. The best reason to be unsure with artificial sweeteners is clearer.
ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS
One health benefit could be weight control because it is believed that the no calorie consumption helps with weight loss, however, recent studies show that the consumption of artificial sweeteners may be linked to weight gain instead of weight loss. When the body consumes sugar substitutes, it usually thinks it’ll see a lot of glucose followed by it. Although, when this glucose doesn't come, it makes the body crave more sweets, thus, makes the person end up eating more food to satisfy the craving. Another main health concern associated with artificial sweeteners, is bladder cancer. There have been many early studies and experiments done on rats, which showed that rats that had been fed the certain chemicals developed bladder cancer. However, more recent studies have shown that the cause of bladder cancer in humans is not directly linked to artificial sugars
