STATISTICS

  • 9% murders are from ages under 18.
  • 1/10 arrested for injury or killing another person.
  • In 2002 1,561 youth under 18 arrested homicide.

CAUSES

  • Teens seeing movies, or playing games that are violent.
  • Teens that have experienced bullying or teasing.
  • Teens being frustrated due to learning disorders.
  • Don't know how to let their feelings out.
  • Teens wanting attention.

PREVENTING TEEN VIOLENCE

  • Teaching them how to let their anger out in a nice way.
  • Teens should get attention from parents.
  • Let them talk about what is wrong.

WARNING SIGNS

  • Teens might act out.
  • Early childhood abuse.
  • History or cruelty to animals.
  • Lacking empathy to others.
  • History of doing property damage.
