PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I was conceived when my parents were in high school. Of course, this was a huge surprise to them. They were not prepared to have a child at the time. The love that I yearned for as a child. developed me into the mother that I am now.
Thankfully I had an amazing grandmother to take over my raising. Because of her influence in my life, I am a God-fearing, hard-working, devoted wife, and mother that I am today.
I was taken to church from a young age. My grandmother taught me to put my faith in Him. I did not realize the magnitude of this until I was a young teen.
My parents divorced early on in their marriage. I believe that I was around 9 at the time. I was not sad about it because they fought all the time. I was sad that they both left. I felt unloved and at fault.
My dad was arrested for driving while intoxicated when I was in my preteens. He had been in out of trouble for years. This time landed him in prison. My mother was also arrested and in trouble multiple times. This is a contributing factor in my life. I wanted to avoid trouble at all cost. I did not want to be an embarrasment
I wanted to have spending money in high school and to make that possible I got my first job at Kroger when I was 15. I was not handed out money every time I turned around. I worked there for seven years until I had my 1st child.
My brother and sister were part of the reason that I worked hard. I wanted to be able to give them money to go to games, or for school clothes, or cool Chrismas gifts. I feel like I missed out on these, and I didn't want them to have the same feelings.
I met my husband when I was just 14 years old. I had no clue I would be tied to him for years to come. I am grateful that I met him young. I believe that I dodged many mistakes in my teen years because of his positive influence.
My parents failures motivated me to be a better parent to my kids than they were for me. It is a job that I do not take lightly and want to make sure I am doing everything that I can for my children.
My grandmother was the only person that had completed her college degree. She was a teacher foe 30 years. She influenced my decision to become a teacher.
I would say that getting married and having my three children is the most important thing to me. My family makes me want to be a better person.
Food is very important in our culture. If someone is sick there is food. If there is a birthday party there is food. If there is a funeral there is food. As you can see our love language is food.
I was born and raised in a small town in North East Texas. I live about 15 minutes from that very house now. My family, for the most part, lives in a 20-mile radius. We get together often and love living near each other.
My parents are both involved in my life now and we have reconciled. It is very important that we have a strong family connection for the children.
