Moral Injury is...

... the soul leaving the body, too ashamed to make its way back.

... is providing medical care to victims of genocidal rape-while witnessing your leadership silence a gang rape in your own unit.

... being deserted in the middle of a firefight because of inadequate training

....leaving my child behind to serve my country

...being judged for leaving my family.

...watching collateral damage in a warzone, from the comfort of my post in the Midwest

...the government, this country, bailing on their end of the deal. I protected you. If you want to call it that. You deserted me.

... training the humanity out of the human. It is the deliberate application of violence of the benefit of humanity. Whose humanity are we talking about?

Is my moral struggle different than an man's? Not really. But I had to maintain a higher standard in a culture that values purity and motherhood over patriotism and capability.

...getting wrong intel and moving on it.

...watching it happen all over again from the sidelines.
