What is a Database

• a structured set of data held in a computer, especially one that is accessible in various ways

What databases do!

• Databases make it easier for the user to get information in a faster more efficient manner.

How Databases work

• Originally, databases were flat. This means that the information was stored in one long text file, called a tab delimited file.
