Electricity

  • We use electricity every day.
  • For example: lights, TV, computers, microwave, heaters, chargers, dishwashers, electric cars and much more.

Types of Electricity

  • Solar
  • Wind
  • Water/Hydro
  • Nuclear
  • Fossil Fuels (coal, oil, gas)

There are 2 types of Electricity

Renewable and Non-Renewable

Renewable Electricity

  • Comes from a resource that is replaced naturally such as air, water and solar energy. Here are some examples:
  • Wind with wind turbines
  • Solar with solar panels
  • Water with dams

Non-Renewable Electricity

  • Is made from fossil fuels.
  • Burning coal, oil and gas is bad for the environment.
  • They cause pollution.
  • Using them wastes the earth's precious resources.

Using Electricity

  • Power lines take the power from the power stations to ours homes.
  • This is a large electric circuit.

This is a small Electric Circuit!

  • Power does not work if there is a gap in the Circut.
