THERE ARE FOR FOUR TYPES OF SENTENCES

  • Declarative.
  • Imperative.
  • Exclamatory!
  • Interrogative?
  • Imperative and interrogative both end in period.

DECLARATIVE

  • Always ends in a period.
  • States a fact or argument.

EXAMPLES

  • I don't think that is a good idea.
  • I like going to baseball games.
  • That was a funny joke.
  • We are having pizza.
  • I think that is wrong.

IMPERATIVE

  • Also ends in a period.
  • A command or a polite request.

EXAMPLES

  • Please shut up.
  • Get my shoes please.
  • Go outside at 12:30.
  • Help me with this thing.
  • Please lease now.

INTERROGATIVE

  • Ends in a question mark.
  • Asks a direct question.
  • A statement with a indirect question is a declarative.

EXAMPLES: DIRECT

  • Do you like my new dog?
  • Should I go outside or not?
  • Are you a new student?
  • What should I do for my project?
  • IIndirect: I wonder if I'll find my dog.

EXCLAMATORY

  • An exclamatory sentence expresses excitement or emotion.
  • Ends in a exclmation mark.
