- But was not supposed to hurt the eagles
- DDT got into the eagles from Bio Magnification

BIOMAGNIFICATION
Biomagnification is transfer of chemicals. As it is passed on by the food chain it becomes of higher concentration and makes the chemical harder to get rid of. DDT was a chemical released to kill off specific species of insects. Run off into the River that includes DDT eventually gets into the fish. The small amounts of DDT in the fish don't effect them but after bald eagles eat fish after fish it starts to add up inside.

THERE NO WAY TO GET DDT OF OF A SYSTEM SO IT STARTED SO EGGS WEAKENED

DDT WAS BANNED
- New fish would be born without DDT
- Eventually new generations of bald eagles would come along with no DDT
- No more new DDT being added to cause more issues
- Eventually all DDT would be out of the system
- Numbers of bald eagles would rise again!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT LEAVES IN THE STREET?
- The drain can back up leaving your street flooded
- Pesticides and winter salts will wash into the River
- Leaves and grass will also carry the chemicals with them

- Clearing off/out the storm drains by your house
- Rake your leaves and bag them
- DO NOT PUT LEAVES IN THE STREET
- Avoided using chemicals on your lawn
- Use compostable leaf bags
