PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WATER CYCLE

Untitled Slide

  • The water cycle says how water evaporates, rises into the atmosphere, cools and condenses into rain or snow, and precipitates back onto the Earth's surface.
  • The precipitation collects in rivers and lakes, soil, and porous layers of rock, where it will evaporate again.

  • Evaporation- The sun heats water turning it into vapor or steam.
  • Transpiration- Water is carried through plant roots to the pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and rises into the atmosphere.
  • Condensation- Vapor cools and changes back into liquid, forming clouds.

  • 4. Precipitation- condensed water build up releases rain, because the atmospheric air can't hold it anymore.
  • 5. Runoff- Water soaks into the surface and becomes groundwater. It can also fall into lakes, rivers or oceans. The process starts over.
