  • Part of a larger mission called operation overload(Eisenhower)
  • Over 150,000 troops landed on the beaches of Normandy
  • More that 9,000 casualties for America, Britain, and Canada
  • Americans faced heavy opposition at Omaha. Over 2,000 casualties
