GENOCIDE

SUDAN

This genocide took place in Darfur, Sudan. Darfur is home to almost 6 million, almost all of which are Muslim.

In 1989, General Omar Bashir took control of Darfur because of hunger for political power. Weapons began to pour into Darfur.

In 2003 darfuri movements began to arise and they began to complain about the government. The government did not like this to say the least. They responded by sending Arab militia, destroying hundreds of villages and claiming hundreds of thousands of lives.

This problem is still occurring today. An average of almost 100 people die everyday in Sudan.

The Spanish American war was a war between the US and Spain. It was started because the US intervened in the Cuban war of independence.

Many battles took place, such as the battle of Manila bay and the battle of las guasimas. The US took the victory in most of these battles.

At the end of the year, America and Spain sign the treaty of Paris, giving the US Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines .

In 1517 in Germany, an Augustinian monk named Martin Luther lead many Catholics in a protest against Rome, the Capitol of Christianity.

His "resistance" began to spread. He eventually began to reform his former religion, Catholicism, into a new religion, Protestantism.

Protestantism became greatly known in Europe and the New world. It is still a very well accepted religion to this day.

Protestantism is not much different from Catholicism. The main reformations in the religion were the subtraction of catholic beliefs such as the Eucharist, Confession, and the priest was transformed into a less formal person known as a pastor or preacher.

THE 9/11 TWIN TOWERS ATTACK

9/11 was an attack launched by an Islamic terrorist group known as the Al-Qaeda on the World Trade Center located in New York City.

On the morning of the attack, four airplanes were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda men. Two of these planes were headed for the twin towers.

When the first plane hit, everyone thought of it to be a terrible accident, but when the second plane hit the other tower, we quickly knew this was no accident.

As for the two other planes, the first one was crashed into the pentagon, the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. The second was directed towards the White House, but passengers managed to attack the terrorists and stop the attack.
