PRESENTATION OUTLINE

OPERANT CONDITIONING AT SCHOOL

SARAH JURASINSKI

PROBLEM

  • I am addressing the issue of students failing to participate during class

CHANGE/STOP

  • I would like the lack of participation to stop
  • I want students to be more enthusiastic about participating

BEHAVIOR

  • I want students to regularly raise their hands
  • I want them to have a more positive attitude about answering questions

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT

  • Each time a student participate he or she will get one piece of candy

NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT

  • If a student participates only once a week or less points will be taken away from his/her participation grade

PUNISHMENT

  • If a student participates less than 30 times all year he or she will not be allowed on the class trip

SCHEDULE OF REINFORCEMENT

  • To condition students toward the behavior of participating more i used fixed ratio punishment
  • Its fixed ratio because in each situation the amount of time is predetermined
  • For positive reinforcement the students get candy immediately
  • For negative reinforcement the kids lose participation points toward their grade on a weekly basis
  • For punishment students wont be allowed on the trip at the end on the year
