PRESENTATION OUTLINE
THE 4 TYPES OF TEMPERATURE SCALES
- Fahrenheit
- Kelvin
- Celsius
- Rankine
Fahrenheit
Is a temperature scale based on one proposed by the German physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit, after whom scale is named.
By the end of the 20th century, most countries used the Celsius scale, rather than the Fahrenheit scale, as the celsius scale is more simplistic with water freezing at 0° and boiling at 100°
The Fahrenheit scale was the primary temperature standard for climatic, industrial and medical purposes in English-speaking countries until the 1960s
The kelvin is a unit of measure for temperature. It is one of the seven base units in the International System of Units (SI) and is assigned the unit symbol K.
Celsius
It is name after the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius who developed a similar temperature scale.
In 1984 was know as centigrade . From 1744 till 1954 IT was defined by the freezing point of water and the boiling point of water.
Rankine
Was named after the Glasgow University and physicist William John Macquorn Rankine.
By análoga with kelvin, some authors call the unit rankine ,ommiting the degree symbol .
We conclude that they are 4 types of temperature scales and only 3 that are commonly used.
We think that is better to use Fahrenheit since is use in most places in the world avoiding confution.
