THE CRUST

  • The first layer of the earth is the crust.
  • The crust is made out of loose dirt, rocks and seabeds.
  • We plant things like fruit and veggies.
  • The crust is about 5 mile deep from the ocean.

MANTLE

  • The second layer of the earth.
  • The mantle is about 1,800 miles deep.
  • The mantles is made out of hard rock and molted rock.
  • The mantle makes about 85% of the total weight of the earths mass.

THE OUTER CORE

  • The outer core is the third layer of the earth.
  • It's about 3,000 miles deep.
  • The outer core is made out of super-heated liquid molten lava
  • The outer core creates the earths magnetic field.

THE INNER CORE

  • The last layer of the earth is the inner core.
  • The inner core is about 900 miles deep.
  • Its a big ball of iron and nickel.
  • The core is really hot but it doesn't melt because of the pressure.
