• 2,500 American men died

FEBUARY 23, 1968

• 1,300 rounds hit the marine base (khe Sanh) and its outposts
• Bunkers were rebuilt to withstand mortar rounds.

MARCH 6, 1968

• NVA forces went to the jungle
• It was quiet around the base

MARCH 11, 1968

• Search and destroy unit was called out to looked around
• South vietnam

MARCH 16, 1968

• Charlie company kills 200 civilians
• Soldiers raised unsettling questions of conduct of war

MARCH 22, 1968

• 1,000 rounds hit base
• Electronicg sensors indicate NVA troops moving in
• We answered with bombing

APRIL 8, 1968

• Khe Sanh had been a 77 day battle
• Biggest single battle of Vietnam War
• 1,600 killed that day and more by bombing

JUNE 1968

• The base didnt need any defense anymore
• General Westmoreland said abandon and demolish the base

NOVEMBER 1, 1968

• Operation Rolling Thunder ends
• 800 pilots missing or dead, hundreds in captivity
• 120 Vietnamese planes had been destroyed
• 182,000 North Vietnamese civilians were killed

1969

• U.S troops begin their withdraw from Vietnam.

1973

• The United States signs a cease-fire with North Vietnam and Vietcong.

1975

• South Vietnam Surrenders
