Molds fossils
When an organism or object leaves a spot in the ground and ground hardens leaving mold of object.
Examples can include, seashells, foot prints, or an object left on ground.

Cast fossil
Forms when materials fill a mold and hardens.
Examples can be shark teeth, sometimes bones or any other cast made of molds.

Petrified fossil
Forms when water runs through an object and leaves minerals from the water and stays.
Examples like petrified wood or sticks.

Preserved fossil
Forms when animals or bugs get stuck in a substance and dies and the substance keeps it from dying.
Examples can be bugs in Amber or tar.

Carbon film
When an organism dies in a mineral its carbon is still present and leaves a trace or the organism.
Examples are bugs that have died in rock.

Trace fossil
When an organism leaves some kind of trace and it is hardened.
Examples can be hand or foot prints.
