Meaning of the story-Leanna
I believe this is kind of talking about what a soldier experiences and as this happens he is talking to his wife just as the British soldiers are coming after the husband. All of this before he decides to leave his wife to deal with the soldiers by herself.

Meaning of the story- Austin
I think that it means all of the wars that the British were in.

Meaning of the story- Tony
I saw this poem as the feelings towards the British army marching into a town, the couple are discussing how they feel.
