WHO IS CAUSING THIS?

  • Humans are bringing different species into different areas.
  • They aren't doing this on purpose.
  • Humans are always on the move so then different species come along with them.

WHAT IS tHE PROBLEM?

  • Invasive Species
  • Some of these species could consume another species faster and wipe it out.
  • A species could get overpopulated because it is free from a predator.
  • Different species from different countries and continents are moving

WHAT CAN WE DO TO STOP THIS?

  • Remove any invasive plants from your garden and plant native plants
  • Learn to identify invasive species and report any sightings to your county extension
  • Regularly clean your boots and tires to remove any insects or plant parts that could go into another area
  • Buy firewood near your campsite and leave any extra fire wood behind. Bugs could easily hitch a ride!

THE GUAM RAIL

  • This bird is an endangered, flightless bird from Guam
  • It is endangered because of an invasive species called the brown tree snake
  • Six Guam Rails are being released but not in Guam because of the brown tree snake
  • Conservationists are releasing Guam Rails at least 30 miles away from brown tree snakes
  • Some conservationists put fences around an are so the snakes can't get to the birds
